THE IDEA
In the past years, the Davidoff White Band Collection has generated considerable sales and brand awareness via launches of re-rolled limited editions. Even though not part of the White Band Collection, other highly acclaimed limited releases such as the Davidoff 702 Series and Davidoff Dominicana, have had a big halo effect on the iconic collection.

The releases created excitement, successfully converted consumers to Davidoff and drove brand desirability considerably as they left aficionados wanting more. Davidoff’s limited-release blends are generally highly sought-after, as they for a short while offer aficionados the Davidoff sophistication with a new and wide variety of flavours.

Thus, Davidoff launches the new Davidoff Maduro.The new line is a successor to the Davidoff Maduro from 2008 with an adapted blend: to mirror the consumers’ taste preference evolution since then, the new blend offers a more balanced and nuanced flavour profile designed for experienced aficionados. Davidoff’s Master Blenders achieved to create a full-bodied cigar of medium intensity – a combination very popular amongst aficionados.

Launched as a limited release, Maduro follows the previous limited release Davidoff Dominicana, thus providing aficionados once again with the option for a sophisticated full-bodied cigar with pronounced sweet flavours. Davidoff matched Maduro’s elaborate creation process with elegant packaging, thus equipping retailers with a product in the upper premium segment for aficionados seeking something truly special and valuable. The storytelling around the sophisticated labour- and time intensive creation process supports the higher positioning of the new release.

Davidoff Maduro will, like Davidoff Dominicana, not belong to the White Band Collection, yet it will highlight Davidoff’s culture of craftsmanship and innovation and draw attention to the iconic line.

The Davidoff Maduro Limited Release refines and redefines what a Maduro is and what a Maduro can be. Sixteen months of fermentation. Two years of ageing. Resulting in a truly beautiful cigar which is sweeter, more sophisticated and, most importantly, carries more flavour. Because time equals taste. And that taste in return fills your time beautifully.So, the Davidoff Limited Release Maduro is something very special indeed. It’s simply more Maduro.

THE CIGAR – A MASTERPIECE OF TIME
This full-bodied cigar, with intense sweet and creamy flavours delivers a sophisticated taste experience new to the Davidoff range.

Maduro’s sweet and creamy flavours are owed 40% to the wrapper alone, which was fermented for an impressive 16 months. Compared to leaves from other grades, the fermentation of the Maduro wrapper takes double the amount of time, because the perfect leaf for a Maduro cigar is one from the top of the plant, where it gets the most sunshine and is therefore quite thick.

The sweetness of dark chocolate in the first third and honey in the second third are key players in this delightful experience. The addition of roasted nuts in the final third completes this typical Maduro taste experience.

The Davidoff Maduro comes in three popular formats: The bigger Toro and Robusto, and the smaller Short Corona for when time is limited. Each format delivers a slightly different taste journey and offers aficionados the perfect choice for any occasion.

All cigars wear a distinctive black second band with gold-foiled elements and come in an elegant 20-ct wooden box with a loose lid. The satinlacquered box finish underpins the super-premium positioning of this
beautiful limited release line.

THE PAIRINGS

ENHANCED BY ICE WINE
This pairing focuses on the sweetness in both the cigar and the ice wine. The typical honey and dried fruit notes of a sweet wine are perfectly complemented by the notes of honey, dark chocolate and roasted nuts of the Davidoff Maduro.

SWEET & CREAMY FLAVOURS
COMPLEMENTED BY LAPSANG SOUCHONG TEA
Dry-smoked over pinewood fire, this black tea delights with notes of paprika, dried longan and wood smoke. These notes pleasantly contrast the cigar’s aromas of dark chocolate, honey and roasted nuts. This heterogenous pairing is an entertaining symphony for the senses. Tip: add some milk in the tea and it becomes creamier.

DID YOU KNOW?
Lapsang souchong is also used in blends of black tea to provide a more full-bodied flavour and a more robust aroma. It may for example be blended with an Earl Grey tea.
