The Hunting Pipe 2021

The inspiration for Nording’s Hunting Pipe 2021 comes from the Ruffed Grouse.

The broad bowl ressembles the spectacular ruff of the Ruffed Grouse – and the wide stem, the beautiful fanned tail.

The distinctive mid-brown stain allows the contrast in the grain to stand out in order to enhance the feeling of a feathery pattern.

The 2021 Hunting Pipe comes in two finishes, a silky mat smooth version and a semi rusticated version. Both versions are fitted with the signature silver ring featuring the Nording “N”-logo.

The ruffed grouse (Bonasa umbellus) – known as “the king of gamebirds” – is a very popular game bird in North America. It’s roughly the size of a chicken (unlike the pipe that’s on the lighter end of the 2.5 Oz/ 70g range).

The name “Ruffed” is derived from the long shiny neck feathers. When the cock is defending his territory – or showing off – these feathers are extended into a spectacular ruff which, together with a fully fanned tail, makes him look twice his normal size.
