Crowned Heads is proud to announce “Four Kicks Capa Especial Aguilas LE 2021.” This limited edition cigar utilizes the Four Kicks Capa Especial blend in a unique aguilas vitola, which harkens back to the Romeo y Julieta (Cuba) aguilas release during the 1960’s that was later discontinued in the 1970’s. This cigar combines an old world aesthetic with new world craftsmanship, produced under the supervision of a true premium cigar industry icon, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo.
The Four Kicks Capa Especial Aguilas story began in Summer 2011 in the office of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo at Tabacalera La Alianza, S.A., in Santiago, Dominican Republic. While working on what would eventually become Crowned Head’s inaugural release, Four Kicks, Ernesto gifted Crowned Heads co-founder, Jon Huber, with a unique and special cigar. The cigar had a truly vintage aesthetic to it in terms of visual appeal and shape. Ernesto simply referred to the cigar as “aguilas.” That cigar was placed in a ziplock bag, labeled “aguilas,” and was stored away in Huber’s modest 50-count humidor at his home where it remains to this day.
In 2020 Crowned Heads released Four Kicks Capa Especial, a blend based upon the original Four Kicks, with a modified filler and Ecuadorian Sumatra Wrapper. That cigar quickly garnered global attention and ultimately surfaced on many “Best Cigars of 2020” lists, including landing a spot on the “Cigar Aficionado Top 25 Cigars of 2020” list. The Capa Especial blend, referred to as “Padrino’s Blend”, was Ernesto’s selection for the original Four Kicks release dating back to 2011.
The Four Kicks Capa Especial Aguilas is a 5 1/2″ x 50 figurado that features a Nicaraguan binder, fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, and is finished with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper leaf. Packaged in decorative 12-count boxes that feature a nod to an “aguila” (eagle), production is limited to a total of 3,000 boxes.
